August 13, 2012 - DIVE

SITE: Papoose

VISIBILITY: Top to Bottom

ENTRY/EXIT WAVES: none

SURGE: none

TEMPERATURE: 82 surface, 79 at depth

DIVER: Capt Al Vogt

COMMENTS: Beautiful day! Flat calm seas with maybe 5 kts of wind. Dolphins riding the bow wake, turtles on the surface and at depth. A true gift from God!

SITE: Shurz

VISIBILITY: 40’

COMMENTS: Beautiful day. Waited for another boat to leave so we could have the wreck to ourselves. But after 20+ divers mucked it up, it still wasn’t bad. We had a good dive then decided to head to the Aeolus for our 2nd dive and prep for the night dive

COMMENTS: Great group who weather’d rough sea’s only to get terrible viz. Sorry ”Beryl” really messed everything up, but we gave it a good go! Group was still high spirited about low viz dives! Great learning oppurtunity!

COMMENTS: Capt Scott performed hooking duties & firmly anchored us near the stern in fairly low viz.

May 25, 2012 - DIVE

SITE: Dive # 1 & 2- 5/24 - PAPOOSE

VISIBILITY: Top to bottom!! 100 + ABSOLUTLEY STUNNING~~

ENTRY/EXIT WAVES: 2-3’

SURGE: None

TEMPERATURE: 74

DIVER: Capt. Al

COMMENTS: Finishing up with Adv student. Deep dive. We collected some teeth, were visited by quite a few resident Sand Tigers, a huge logger head, southern rays both on the bottom and 1 "in flight". A large & friendly Octopus was befriended by our Capt Jim & photographer. With the lovely conditions and all the marine life the group decided that they would have to be br pried from the site!!

SITE: Dive #2 - 5/22 Spar

COMMENTS: Dive # 2 & 3 with Brian, working on navigation skills and just having alittle fun! This was the 1st time I have seen the Spar in it’s new location since ”Irene” re-located her last fall. She now lies on a 45-55’ degree list to port with the stern now much deeper in the sand.

SITE: Dive 1 - U-352

VISIBILITY: 80’

ENTRY/EXIT WAVES: 3’ spaced enough to ”git er done”

SURGE: Mild to none if any

TEMPERATURE: 74

COMMENTS: Dive 1 with adv student Brian O’Neill. Worked in buyancy and navigation skills. Capt Jim performed hooking duties and returned with a respectable grouper.

May 19, 2012 - DIVE

SITE: Indra

VISIBILITY: 25”

ENTRY/EXIT WAVES: 3-4’

SURGE: No current but surge was mild

TEMPERATURE: 69

DIVER: Capt Al

COMMENTS: Group handeled the less than perfect conditions well. We were happy to have descent viz for an inshore dive. Lots of Sea Bass, a few small grouper and one lonely under size flounder was spotted.

May 5, 2012 - DIVE

SITE: Aeolus

VISIBILITY: 40-50’

ENTRY/EXIT WAVES: 2-3’

SURGE: 1st dive a bit of a breeze, by the 2nd dive the current had gone.

TEMPERATURE: 72

DIVER: Capt. Al

COMMENTS: Again performed hooking duties for Tortuga and their group. Very Nice group! Grouper were everywhere. I’m happy to say it was minus one nice size gag ( 30” ) thanks to 1 carefully aimed shot. Dinner was also as nice. Grilled grouper with zuchinni & squash, onions & peppers, and shrooms topped the delicious fish.

VISIBILITY: 20’

TEMPERATURE: 68

COMMENTS: Performed hooking duties for the Tortuga. We left the dock at 3:00pm for an afternoon dive. It was a good dive for the 1st of the year. No current, & viz could have been better but still an ok dive.

VISIBILITY: Very Good - 30 to 40 feet
